The SEC last month said it was investigating Musk's 2022 purchases of stock in Twitter -- which Musk subsequently renamed X -- and his statements and SEC filings relating to his takeover of the social media giant. Musk had refused to attend a September interview for the probe, the SEC said. Musk and his lawyers on Nov. 2 asked the judge to deny the SEC's motion to compel his testimony, saying Musk had already testified twice and that the agency was exceeding its authority. But the SEC on Thursday rejected those claims, saying agency officials are indeed granted authority by law to seek testimony and documents as they pursue their investigative work.

The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, says it is struggling with a flood of posts sharing graphic media, violent speech and hateful conduct about the Israel-Hamas war. But it has received a broadside of criticism, including from a top European Union official, questioning the adequacy of the response. One former member of Twitter’s public policy team said the company is having a harder time taking action on posts that violate its policies because there aren’t enough people to do that work. “X believes that, while difficult, it’s in the public’s interest to understand what’s happening in real time,” its statement said. “With the global crisis unfolding, Linda and her team must remain fully focused on X platform safety,” X told the organizers of the WSJ Tech Live conference being held next week in Laguna Beach, California.

A bug on the social media platform had let outsiders view user email addresses during password resets, which revealed the identity of users, Bloomberg News said. Musk renamed the social media platform as X following the acquisition. Intesa Sanpaolo recognizes "the aerospace sector as having a particularly important role in the development of world economies and has therefore decided to invest in a player that has demonstrated a cutting-edge vision of the near future", the bank said in a statement. Tesla (TSLA.O) in March announced plans to open a major plant in Nuevo Leon, its first in Mexico, which has also attracted EV investments from other automakers seeking to meet ambitious production targets. "We are very appreciative of their efforts to enable the permits and sustainable infrastructure necessary," he said. The so-called "Gigafactory" is set to bring in an estimated $15 billion over the next two years through Tesla and its suppliers, Nuevo Leon Governor Samuel Garcia said last month. The state has called for more investment in health, education, roads and basic services to accommodate the expected growth.
